Canva Game Creator Contest

Most people think of Canva as a tool for graphics and presentations, but it can also be used to create online games. That is what makes this contest so fun.

In the Canva Game Creator Contest, students in grades 6–12 will design and build their own original online game using Canva code. They may create any type of game they want, from quiz games to adventure games, challenge games, or something completely unique.

We will provide guidance on how to use Canva code to create a video game, so students do not need prior experience to participate. Each entry also includes our Intro to AI unit study, valued at $20, giving students an added bonus just for entering.

Fantasy Geography Contest

In this Fantasy Geography Contest using the Fanschool platform, students draft countries and earn points based on how often those countries appear in the news. It’s part strategy game, part current events, and entirely engaging.

Winter Getaway Canva Travel Poster Design Contest

‘Purchase’ the contest to access the form each student needs to complete to enter—just one ‘purchase’ necessary per family.

Eligibility:

Open to homeschooled students ages 13–18.
One entry per participant.
Theme: Winter Getaway in the United States

Submission Guidelines:

Use a Canva template of a travel poster to create a marketing poster to make someone want to visit a U.S. winter getaway destination. To find travel posters in Canva, click on the Template button under “What Will You Create Today” and then type Travel Posters into the search box.
Use the template as a launch pad to create your own unique design. These things need to be changed in the template to accomplish this:
- The fonts
- The photos
- The color scheme (change at least 1 of the colors to a compatible color)
File format: JPG, PNG, or PDF. File size should be 1 MB or less.
Submit entries by February 28, 2026 (Entry form link will be provided once you sign up – check the confirmation email)

Privacy Note:

To protect participants, no identifiable faces of people should be visible. Silhouettes, hands, or back views are acceptable.
Designs may be shared on FundaFunda Academy’s website and social media.

Prizes:

1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place winners will receive Amazon gift cards.

Vocabulary Contest

How it Works

When students sign up for the Vocabulary Contest, they will be enrolled in a private Vocabulary.com classroom created specifically for this contest.
Students must complete vocabulary activities inside the contest classroom.
Students will be assigned specific vocabulary lists chosen for middle and high school levels.
Students learn words by:
- Reading definitions and examples
- Practicing with interactive questions
- Reaching “mastery” on individual words
Vocabulary.com automatically awards points for:
- Correct practice answers
- Reaching mastery on words
- Continued, consistent practice
The platform tracks all activity automatically

Fall Teen Photography Contest

‘Purchase’ the contest to access the form each student needs to complete to enter—just one ‘purchase’ necessary per family.

Eligibility:

Open to homeschooled students ages 13–18.
One entry per participant.
Photo must be taken by the teen during November 2025
Theme: The photo should capture the spirit of fall or Thanksgiving — this could include nature, family traditions (without showing faces), seasonal colors, gratitude, harvest, etc.

Submission Guidelines:

Photos must be original and unedited except for minor adjustments (cropping, exposure, color correction).
No AI-generated or composite images.
File format: JPG or PNG.
Include a short caption (1–2 sentences) explaining your photo and how it connects to the theme.
Submit entries by November 30, 2025 (Entry form link will be provided once you sign up – check the confirmation email)

Graphic Design with Canva self-paced Online Class

The goal of this high school graphic design class is to introduce students to the basics of using a free Canva account to create graphics for presentations, infographics, posters, social media, and more. Students will learn how to work with design elements from scratch as well as how to use Canva’s library of templates to save time and get inspiration.

The course will take students through a series of fun projects as they put into practice what they are learning. They will also be encouraged to develop their own creative style as a vital skill to use in the future. When the course is completed, students should have the confidence to use Canva to create visual media for school assignments and more.

This class can be used as an Art credit for high school.

Rubrics, an answer key, and an answer sheet are provided to give parents guidance as they grade.

Google Slides Contest

Google Slides Contest

Task: Create a 10 slide presentation in Google Slides on the topic of Daylight Savings Time. History, pros and cons, and any other interesting details can be include. More details will be provide in the contest classroom.

The contest costs $10 to register for, but included in the price is the Google Drive Unit Study priced at $20. Students will learn how to use Google Slides – and then have the opportunity to win a prize!

For homeschool students in grades 6–12

The contest runs until October 31, 2025.

There will Amazon gift card prizes for the top 3 presentations

1st place – $25
2nd place – $15
3rd place – $10

You only need to register each child separately unless they choose to work together and share any prize they might win. Only one entry per purchase.

Once you sign up, you will get access to a classroom where you will find a link to the Google Drive Unit study which includes info on how to create Google Slides. You will also find more instructions on the competition.

Great Trivia Challenge

Free Rice Trivia Challenge

For homeschool students in grades 6–12 (younger students may participate, but the questions could be too challenging)

Test your knowledge, help fight hunger, and win prizes!

Play trivia in our private room in any category you like — from geography to literature to science. For every question you answer correctly, Free Rice donates 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Programme. And you earn points!

Students are not playing head-to-head against anyone to answer the questions. Play in your own time and select the categories that appeal to you. You even get to set the difficulty level!

The contest runs September 15–28. At the end, the top players (most points) will win Amazon gift cards:

Artificial Intelligence for Teens 2026

In this 16-week introductory course, students in grades 7–12 will explore the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through a balance of theory, ethical discussion, and hands-on experience. Students will learn how AI systems work, why they matter, and how these technologies are already shaping the world around them.

From exploring tools like ChatGPT and Canva’s AI features, to diving into big-picture questions about ethics, copyright, and the future of work, this course equips students with the knowledge they need to be thoughtful users and potential creators of AI.

They’ll also gain practical experience with real AI-powered tools, evaluate where AI can (and shouldn’t) be used, and reflect on how these technologies may affect their own education, careers, and daily lives.

What students will gain:

A foundational understanding of how AI and machine learning work
Hands-on experience with a variety of popular AI tools
Insight into real-world applications of AI
Awareness of ethical concerns such as bias, hallucinations, environmental impact, and copyright
